The benefits of using Eedi Beta

Find out what Eedi Beta is, how you can access it and the various benefits it has to offer!

Updated over 2 months ago

Welcome to Eedi Beta! Collaboration with teachers has led us to build an exciting new version of the site. We’ve built Eedi for teachers, with the help of teachers, in a variety of feedback sessions.

Your feedback on this new site will be greatly appreciated and will be used to help shape Eedi’s future development. We're keen to find out if there are things you love, or things we could do better - so let us know!

Why try Eedi Beta? Let us tell you all about the benefits!

⭐️ Gain early access to new features

All of our new features will be added to the Eedi Beta site first. If you want to try these before anyone else, you can do so from the Beta site!

🗓️ Simpler long-term planning of assignments

One major change is how you set assignments, which is done via the "Plan" area. Here are the benefits (click on the arrows to read more):

We’ve introduced a calendar view.

  • Allowing you to plan out your assignments in time

  • More easily visualising the term, and seeing what is coming up next.

All planning will take place within a “week” of 7 days.

  • Choose the topic(s) you’d like students to study that week, and they will be assigned from the start of that week until the end of that week.

Easily manage and edit your planned assignments.

  • The Plan area gives you an overview of the work you have set. You can easily move assigned quizzes to another week, or delete them if needed.

Plan short-term or long-term.

  • You have the option to continue planning assignments one week at a time;

  • But we would recommend that you plan an entire term or year in one go. This unlocks the additional benefits of:

    • Not having to worry about planning work every week

    • Unlock the full benefits of automated Retrieval and Prerequisite quizzes

🔁 Automated retrieval quizzes

Once a class has been assigned three or more quizzes, they will unlock automated retrieval quizzes.

  • Retrieval quizzes consist of 7 questions which are personalised practice questions for each individual student based on the questions they have previously answered.

  • Each question in the quiz has been chosen based on our unique algorithm which determines the best time for students to revisit concepts they have previously studied. This will be unique for each student, helping to reinforce long-term retention.

  • These quizzes will automatically be set every week, unless you choose to delete them.

Note: These will be assigned to the class, but students will not be able to see these until after they have answered at least 10 quiz-based questions.

⚡️ Automated prerequisite quizzes

When assigning topics in advance, we will also automatically assign a prerequisite quiz:

  • These are a set of three questions designed to best prepare your students for the upcoming topic.

  • The prerequisite quiz will always be assigned to the week before the topic is set. This helps to prepare students for future classes on this topic, as well as for the upcoming assignment.

  • The prerequisites choose the best three questions for each individual student, based on our predictions for them. So each student may see a different set of prequisite questions to best prepare them.

  • We will only add a prerequisite quiz for the first topic you add to a particular week.

Note: To guarantee that your students have access to prerequisite quizzes, always plan your work at least 1 full week in advance. We typically recommend planning 2 weeks in advance.

🧑‍💻 Individual class focus

From speaking to teachers we understand that in most cases you are using the site for one particular class at a time.

As a result, we have made the class switcher more prominent, and when you choose a class, the whole site will be switched over to look at that class. Allowing you to deeply focus on one class at a time.

✅ Focus on assignment completion

Teachers have expressed the need to initially focus on students completing their assignments, so we have turned our results pages into the new “Check” area. This is:

  • Focused initially on checking that students have completed their work.

  • you can choose to dig deeper to see what misconceptions they have, and the specific answers they gave, whenever you wish to do so.

(👀 Coming soon) Fix Misconceptions

Eedi is all about identifying and resolving misconceptions! However, sometimes students still have a few unresolved misconceptions which you might choose to resolve in class.

We are building a “Fix” area which is specifically designed to help you identify the highest priority misconceptions, and present these to your class. Here's a sneak peek...
