Practical ways to use Eedi in your teaching

Explore our use cases, from setting homework to tracking progress, with tips to save time and support every student

Updated this week

Eedi is designed to make your teaching easier, more focused, and more impactful. Here are the main ways you can use Eedi to support learning in your classroom.

1. Homework that pinpoints gaps

Assigning Eedi's topic quizzes for homework allows students to practise key concepts independently, with personalised support through videos and additional practice to help students resolve any misconceptions they currently have. This means more effective learning for them while giving you all of the misconception information you need.

How to set homework:

  1. Go to the "Plan" page.

  2. Select "+ Set work".

  3. Pick a quiz using collections, search or filters.

  4. Assign to a class by choosing the class, dates, and selecting "Assign".

2. Automate Retrieval Practice

Eedi takes the guesswork out of retrieval practice. Based on students' past quiz results, our algorithm creates personalised evidence-backed retrieval quizzes for each student, focusing on the topics they need to revisit most, precisely when they need to revisit them. You simply choose how often you want these quizzes assigned, and we handle the rest!

How to set up automated retrieval practice:

  1. View the "Settings" page.

  2. Under Class Settings, select "Assignment settings".

  3. Choose how often the quizzes should be assigned and select the start date.

  4. Click "Create retrieval practice".

Note: The class must have completed at least 3 assignments to unlock this revision tool.

3. In-Class: Check for understanding

Did you know you can present our quizzes in class to quickly check your class's understanding before they move on to independent practice? By presenting a quiz or even a single question and having students vote on their answers, you get an immediate snapshot of where the class stands. This helps you identify common misconceptions, address them on the spot, and confidently decide if your students are ready for the next step.

💡 If your students have access to 1:1 devices, you can also assign a quiz to use as a quick starter or exit ticket in your lesson.

How to present a quiz/question:

  1. Go to the "Plan" page and select "+ Set work".

  2. Choose a quiz.

  3. Click the three dots in the top right corner.

  4. Select "Present to class".

How to assign a quiz as a starter/exit ticket:

  1. Go to the "Plan" page and select "+ Set work".

  2. Choose a quiz.

  3. Click the three dots in the top right corner.

  4. Select "Assign diagnose quiz".

4. In-Class: Independent Practice

Once students are ready to try some questions for themselves, assign them a quiz on Eedi. Our quizzes are designed to support students who are both struggling and excelling at a topic. If we reveal a misconception, then we provide tailored learning content to resolve that before offering them a similar question to try again. If a student is doing well they can then complete a stretch and challenge to further develop their understanding.

Allow a little more time for these quizzes, compared to just an AfL check, and rest assured that your students are busy actively resolving their misconceptions! You'll gain a clear overview of who's completed the work and any unresolved misconceptions that need your attention, all without the need for manual marking.

How to assign a quiz:

  1. Go to the "Plan" page.

  2. Click "+ Set work".

  3. Select a quiz using search, collections or filters.

  4. Choose a class, set the dates, then click "Assign".

5. Data & Insights: Check

Eedi's Check section goes beyond just scores, providing you with actionable insights into common misconceptions. After students complete a quiz, quickly identify where your class is struggling and tailor your teaching for maximum impact. Ready to uncover key learning gaps and boost student understanding?

How to check results:

  1. Visit the "Check" section after students have completed a quiz.

  2. Click the quiz name to view the results.

    1. A green tick indicates a correct answer.

    2. A purple tick indicates that a misconception was found & resolved by Eedi.

    3. A red cross indicates a misconception was found & remains unresolved.

6. Data & Insights: Fix

During independent practice your students will be busy resolving their own misconceptions, but there will be some that they just can’t resolve on their own. Eedi's Fix section lets you dive into your students' unresolved misconceptions from all quizzes past and present. You then know exactly which areas need your input and can resolve them in class.

To resolve remaining misconceptions:

  1. Visit the "Fix" section.

  2. Choose a quiz to see any remaining misconceptions.

  3. Work through them with your class - you can present a question to find answer explanations to support your teaching.

  4. Click "Resolve" when they are addressed.

7. Data & Insights: Individual Student

Our individual student reports provide a comprehensive overview of each student's journey on Eedi, compiling their completion rates, misconceptions, and quiz scores. Ideal for parent-teacher conferences and preparing student reports. Gain a deeper understanding of each student's learning journey.

To review individual student insights:

  1. Go to the "Students" page.

  2. Navigate between the "Overview", "Effort" & "Proficiency" sections.

  3. Select a student to see their full report.
