How to set up and use Claude's Eedi connector

Find out how to connect your Eedi account to Claude and find the right Diagnostic Question in seconds

We've teamed up with Anthropic as part of their Claude for Teachers initiative 🎉

Through a new integration, you can now access our full library of Diagnostic Questions, built over a decade of maths misconception research, directly inside Claude! No more scrolling through banks of questions to find the right one. Just describe what you need, in your own words, and Claude will surface the most relevant Diagnostic Questions from Eedi.

❤️ It's completely free for teachers.

🌍 Available in English and Spanish - more languages and country-specific editions (including India, Indonesia, Brazil, and several African countries) rolling out over the next 18 months.

📚 Content aligned to how you actually teach - matched to your curriculum, standards, and language.

What are Diagnostic Questions?

In a typical assessment question, a wrong answer only tells you the student got it wrong. In our Diagnostic Questions, every wrong answer is deliberately designed to reveal why.

Each multiple-choice option targets a specific misconception. A student who picks option A has a different knowledge gap from a student who picks option C, and each needs a different response from you. That's the insight Diagnostic Questions are built to surface, and it's what over a decade of research and hundreds of millions of student responses have gone into refining.

How to set it up

Step 1: Get your accounts sorted

You'll need two accounts - one with Eedi, one with Claude.

Step 2: Connect Eedi to Claude

Note: This integration is teacher-only. No student data is collected or processed through it.

Once you're logged into Claude:

  1. Go to Customize.

  2. Click Connectors, find Eedi MCP in the list and click Connect.

  3. You'll be taken to Eedi to sign in (if needed) and asked to Allow Access.

  4. Back in Claude's Customize > Connectors view, click on Eedi MCP (it should now show as connected) and select Always Allow from the dropdown so you're not prompted every time.

Now you're set up and ready to search! 🎉

Claude can search and pull up Eedi's questions for you. It can't change anything in your account or affect your students; it only reads and displays questions.

Examples of things you can do with Claude's Eedi connector

You've noticed a misconception in class

Maybe a few students keep mixing up "ascending" and "descending," or applying a rule that only works for whole numbers to fractions. Just describe it to Claude in plain language, and Claude will pull the Diagnostic Questions designed to surface exactly that gap.

Example prompt: "I've got students confusing ascending and descending order."

You want questions for a specific topic, at the right difficulty level

Try something as simple as "Find me questions on [topic name]. Claude finds matching questions and renders each as an inline card - the question stem, a diagram, the correct answer with its worked explanation, and each wrong answer labelled with the specific misconception it targets.

Example prompt: "Find 2 questions on Eedi to test collecting like terms - one quite simply and one difficult"

You're teaching to a specific curriculum standard

You can reference the exact standard you're teaching to, and Claude will find a question mapped to it.

Example prompt: "Find me a good Eedi question for my lesson on multi-digit multiplication, standard 5.NBT.B.5."

You're planning a quick formative check

Rather than building an assessment from scratch, describe the learning objective for the lesson and let Claude assemble a short set of Diagnostic Questions to use as a warm-up or exit ticket.

Example prompt: "I'm about to teach negative number subtraction. Give me 3 quick Diagnostic Questions I can use as a warm-up."

You want to understand the answer explanations Claude has shared

Once Claude's shown you a question, just follow up in the same chat.

For example: "Explain why each wrong answer is wrong and what misconception it points to."
